This is the last one for today, I promise.

Favorite Caroline’s reactions to Klaus’ words/actions: “There’s a whole world out there waiting for you” / “That’s why I like you” / “It won’t be enough for you” / “It’s OK. It’s me. You’re safe.”
Even though is amazing to see how he looks at her, with such admiration and curiosity, I’ve always focused on her reactions to his approaches. It’s so interesting how she’s never immediately opened to them; she’s always defensive, for obvious reasons, but then he says or does things that really get to her (saving her, “It won’t be enough for you”, “That’s why I like you’, or saying that she doesn’t have to worry about anything, just go home and stay inside) — and she gets actually surprised. It’s like she’s looking at him and seeing someone else. Like she’s thinking “is this the guy who everyone claims to be the most awful creature ever? Why is he saving me? Why is he even bothering to say things like these? Is he so arrogant that he thinks I’ll believe or there’s really more about him?”

How neat, how elegant, not to waste any more lives, but to give the dangerous task to the boy who had already been marked for slaughter, and whose death would not be a calamity, but another blow against Voldemort.
